WEBINAR OVERVIEW

Talk 1 — TNO

AI and cybersecurity are becoming more closely connected, especially with the rise of AI agents. Advances in AI create new possibilities for innovation, while also raising questions about security, resilience, and trust. To better understand this complex landscape, it is useful to look at the different ways these two fields intersect. This presentation introduces a framework that provides a structured perspective on that relationship and the key developments taking place within it at TNO.

Talk 2 — RISE

The rapid emergence of large language models and the subsequent rise of agentic systems have introduced uncertainties and concerns in the field of dependable and secure computing. In this talk, Behrooz will share his reflections on agent autonomy, dependability, security, and what we can learn from earlier work on reliable and autonomous systems in the agentic era.

Talk 3 — INESC TEC

AI systems are increasingly being integrated into critical and complex computing infrastructures, raising important questions about their reliability, security, and trustworthiness. But rather than asking whether we can make AI completely trustworthy, what if we design systems around AI to be aware of its limitations and adapt to its behavior? In this talk, Cláudia will discuss AI-aware systems and how system-level mechanisms can help manage the uncertainty and risks associated with AI while enabling us to benefit from its capabilities.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Li-anne Tjin

Li-anne is a scientist in the Cyber Secure Technologies department at TNO, a leading Dutch applied research institute. With a background in Artificial Intelligence, she specializes in the intersection of AI and cybersecurity. Her research encompasses the use of AI for cyber threat detection, as well as the evaluation and mitigation of security, safety, and trustworthiness risks arising from AI systems and their deployment in operational environments.

 Behrooz Sangchoolie

Behrooz is a researcher in the Dependable and Autonomous Systems unit at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. He is a Docent in Computer Science (2023) and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science (2017) from Chalmers University of Technology. Behrooz is a member of the IFIP Working Group 10.4 on Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance. He has served on many program committees for conferences and workshops in the area of dependable computing. His current research interests include the use of fault and attack injection experiments for dependability and security assessment of computer systems, dependability evaluation of systems equipped with agentic AI, as well as to conduct interplay analyses between non-functional requirements such as safety and security.

Cláudia Brito

Cláudia Brito is an Assistant Researcher at INESC TEC and an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Minho. Her research focuses on the intersection of AI and systems, with particular interests in AI for systems optimization, adaptive and intelligent infrastructures, energy-efficient AI workloads, and distributed AI. While pursuing her PhD, she worked on privacy-preserving machine learning, and now her work has begun to expand into AI-driven cybersecurity configuration for ransomware resilience.
