The YEAR Annual Conference 2019 took place on the 27-28th of May at the premises of RISE Research Institutes of Sweden in Gothenburg. The event targeted young and early-stage researchers.

It provided networking opportunities and training for improving their interdisciplinary skills, developing novel project ideas and working in teams.

Rise to innovation – being a team player to bring your idea to life

In a two-day workshop, 45 young researchers developed novel research project ideas from scratch in seven interdisciplinary teams. The interactive format of the workshop enabled them to develop the ideas with methods focusing on creating high performing innovation teams.

Professional trainers from Pollen facilitated the development of the project ideas within an interactive workshop format that was thematically focused on societal impact and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The workshop enabled the opportunity to practice and improve skillsets within problem finding, problem solving, backcasting from dream project and failing well.

Social Weekend

The participants had the opportunity, as in previous years, to attend a Social Weekend before the Annual Conference. During the weekend, 30 of the participants explored Gothenburg in a social programme organized by RISE. Highlights were a tour to the Gothenburg archipelago and the island of Brännö, Swedish fika and the boule tournament.
